Ricks settled in San Antonio in 1968, and locals undoubtedly will recognize his poster work. He designed the 1987 Texas Folklife Festival poster, 1993 Fiesta poster and the 1994 and 1995 Night in Old San Antonio posters. Ricks also created the 1993 Southwestern Bell Telephone book cover and the 100th anniversary poster for the Union Stockyards. The artist frequently returns to San Antonio scenes in his paintings.
