About Thom Ricks
Thom Ricks has been an professional artist his entire life. Being loyal to his career and curious about the world, he has made his way to far off places from Egypt to New Zealand, from England to Japan, from Brazil to Italy, from Greece to Belize, from Ireland to Mexico sketching and painting his way around the world many many times.
Thom Ricks has spent his lifetime career in and around San Antonio. He loves to sketch, paint and draw, making it his life’s work. When he is not in his studio he is out searching the globe for inspiration for his next great project. Believing that everyone is creative, he enjoys mentoring budding artists and teaching workshops pertaining to everything from the business of art, to watercolor, painting, how to incorporate travel into your life of art. He is passionate about life and this is reflected in his evolving style.
Classically trained at the beginning of his career as an illustrator, he believes from his ability to draw, painting was a natural progression in the expansion of his career. He explains that painting allows him the freedom to capture the essence of a person or place through lens of his heart.
